Full-time Chinese Translators

Job Description: Translators at LocaTran convert source language written materials into the target language, ensuring that content and meaning is maintained. This job is well suited to writers who are skilled at using a variety of writing styles and are fluent in one or more foreign languages.

Candidates must excel at conducting research and working under deadlines. They also need to have an area specialization, with an extensive amount of background knowledge in a specific field such as business, technology or science. We require translators to have an undergraduate degree in a relevant major, usually accompanied by a postgraduate translation certification.

Language pair: English, German, French, Japanese - Simplified Chinese

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in linguistics/translation-related studies)
• 5 years of translation experience

Project Manager

Locatran Translations seeks a Project Manager who will be responsible for the planning and execution of translation projects. This includes overseeing quality, pricing, and schedules in order to ensure customer satisfaction.

Location: Shanghai and Nanjing

Responsibilities:

• Manage the entire life cycle of multiple localization projects in a fast-paced work environment
• Coordinate and accurately predict the duration of each project stage
• Maintain close communication with sales staff regarding project parameters and requirements
• Negotiate deadlines and rates with vendors
• Supervise in-house and freelance translation, editing and DTP department staff
• Establish and maintain quality relationships with an international staff of contract translators and proofreaders
• Monitor and regularly update status on all projects
• Manage project financing, which includes budgeting and payments
• Prepare and maintain updated project documentation
• Comply with all applicable and relevant company procedures and guidelines
• Perform project inspections at various stages of the process to ensure quality and accuracy

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in linguistics/translation-related studies)

Locatran Translations is currently hiring an Account Manager with sales experience in the language services industry or professional services industry. Account Managers are responsible for acquiring new viable potential business through various methods of direct outreach and consultative selling. This includes strategic marketing efforts such as telephone sales, email and face-to-face meetings. Account Managers are responsible for creating and managing customer portfolios through prospecting, client meetings and maintaining periodic follow up communication.

Location: Shanghai and Nanjing

Responsibilities:

• Manage and lead regional business development activities to generate new revenue
• Create effective approaches for attracting new business
• Using market research on the capabilities, benefits and competitive advantages of LocaTran’s services to attract new business
• Work in coordination with Sales Management to assess, develop, and exploit sales opportunities
• Promote and educate prospective clients on LocaTran’s services
• Manage client expectations in conjunction with the Production Management Team

Position Summary:This position reports to the Desktop Publishing Manager. You will be a part of a team of full-time and freelance graphic designers and typesetters. Through involvement with both project management and hands-on desktop publishing, you will define, develop, and manage the life cycle of client projects. In addition, you will assist your team with the analysis and troubleshooting of foreign language data to be used in published products.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the production of desktop publishing (DTP) projects using InDesign, Quark, and other desktop publishing applications
• Perform daily hands-on DTP in coordination with Project Managers for multiple projects
• Coordinate and communicate with other DTP Specialists, freelancers, Project Managers, and production team members in multiple offices and time zones to ensure project deadlines are met
• Troubleshoot technical issues

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
